Friends, we are living in uncertain times! The coronavirus pandemic means that we will have to, for the foreseeable future, do church in a different way. Please remember whatever we are asked to do is for the benefit of all.
The one thing that doesn’t change is that we are still the body of Christ.
….. there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. if one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each of you is a part of it.
1 Corinthians 12:25-27 (TNIV)
Following Government advice on the Covid-19 virus, Presbytery advises Kirk Sessions to cancel services of worship and other religious gatherings with immediate effect until further notice. This includes house-groups, meetings for youth work, church cafe, prayer meetings.
This does not mean that we cease to be the Body of Christ.
We can be family in many different ways. The phone can become one of our greatest tools to keep in contact with one another.
Ask God to show you who you can help the most?
Maybe you can get shopping for those who can’t leave their homes?
Maybe you can regularly phone those who are on their own?
If you can offer practical help, let me know via the Church office. (253043)
If you need help from the rest of the body, please don’t be afraid to contact me. (253043)
How can we honour one another? How can we show our love for one another? Pray for one another, serve one another by doing practical things.
As a church we will do whatever we can to make this virus time as manageable as possible. If you have ideas to help one another, let me know.
I will miss seeing you all at worship on Sundays. Until we get permission again to meet and worship together, I have decided to have a service with no congregation every Sunday morning, but one we can stream online so we can worship together, individually. This will go out on the church Facebook page and website. For those who don’t have access to this we hope we can provide the service on disk.
I know this will be difficult, not knowing how long this will last will cause anxiety, but we have a God who knows what we need even before we ask.
Together, let’s trust Him, together let the Spirit of God guide us, maybe in ways we haven’t known before. Now you are the body of Christ, and each of you is a part of it.
God bless each one of you,
John
